Justifiable

Justifiable
-words by Clint Collins
April 26, 2016

she offered justice or mercy but wouldn’t do both
I opened my mouth and swore under oath
She heard what I said, but not what I meant
She threw me a line and held me in contempt, oh yeah

And now I need a witness

And so I’m giving my defense, I’m giving my excuse
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue
And so I’m giving my account, and every word is true
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue

In my opening statements, I talked about love
And all of the dreams I never made much of
She had what I wanted but not what I need
Guilty from birth, was all I could plead, oh yeah

So can I get a witness

And now I’m giving my defense, I’m giving my excuse
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue
And so I’m giving my account, and every word is true
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue

Ooh ooh counting the hours
Ooh ooh counting the minutes
Ooh ooh with a love like ours,
I’ve already been sentenced
Ooh ooh counting the minutes
Ooh ooh counting the years
Ooh ooh releasing resentments
Ooh ooh facing my fears

And now I’m giving my defense, I’m giving my excuse
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue
And so I’m giving my account, and every word is true
It’s justifiable, and I’m long overdue
